Businessman Arrested in Lanao del Norte with P400,000 Contraband
Police Colonel Leo Sua, the director of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, detailed the first arrest involving a 49-year-old businessman from Old Poblacion village in Munai. The suspect was intercepted around 9:24 a.m. on Monday, March 2, in Samburon village, Linamon.
Strategic Checkpoint Leads to Discovery
Personnel from the Lanao del Norte 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (1PMFC) flagged down a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) driven by the businessman during a routine checkpoint operation. The vehicle was en route from Munai to Iligan City when it was stopped for inspection.
Through the vehicle's open window, officers observed reams of cigarettes wrapped in transparent cellophane on the back seat. When the driver failed to produce any documentation for the cargo, authorities held the vehicle for further examination.

The businessman was transported to the Linamon Municipal Police Station for documentation, while the seized cigarettes were moved to the 1PMFC headquarters pending transfer to the Bureau of Customs in Iligan City.

Businesswoman Apprehended in Lanao del Sur with P126,640.64 in Smuggled Goods
In a parallel operation, Police Colonel Caezar Cabuhat, director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, reported the arrest of a businesswoman on Sunday, March 1, along Daguan village in Kapatagan.
Intelligence-Driven Operation
Acting on received information that a passenger bus bound for Cotabato City was transporting smuggled cigarettes, personnel from the Kapatagan Municipal Police Station and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14-A conducted a checkpoint inspection.
During the inspection, authorities discovered the contraband concealed inside the bus's luggage compartment.

The businesswoman and the confiscated items were taken to the Kapatagan Municipal Police Station for appropriate disposition. The cigarettes will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for further action.
