Massive Drug Laboratory Dismantled in Valenzuela City Warehouse Operation

In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, authorities successfully dismantled a clandestine shabu laboratory concealed within a Valenzuela City warehouse. The pre-dawn operation, conducted on February 22, 2026, resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and chemicals with a staggering estimated value of P6.6 billion.

Coordinated Law Enforcement Action

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) executed a meticulously planned joint operation at an industrial compound located in Barangay Veinte Reales. This operation involved close coordination between multiple units, including the PDEA Regional Office IV-A Cavite Provincial Office, PDEA Regional Office–National Capital Region, and the Valenzuela City Police Station.

The breakthrough came at 4:15 a.m. when operatives arrested a suspect, identified only by the alias "JP," a 30-year-old resident of Cubao, Quezon City. The arrest followed a controlled buy-bust transaction where the suspect sold 500 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, to an undercover agent. The drugs involved in this initial transaction were valued at approximately P3.4 million.

Discovery of a Functioning Drug Laboratory

The successful buy-bust operation provided critical intelligence that led authorities directly to a warehouse that had been under prior surveillance. Upon entering the facility, law enforcement agents discovered a fully operational shabu laboratory, a significant find in the ongoing fight against narcotics.

The seizure inside the warehouse was monumental. Authorities confiscated 906.4064 kilograms of shabu, with an estimated street value of P6.16 billion, alongside 64.15 liters of liquid methamphetamine valued at P436.22 million. In addition to the finished drugs, operatives recovered a substantial quantity of controlled precursors, essential chemicals, and specialized laboratory equipment used exclusively for the illicit manufacture of dangerous substances.

Official Statements and Legal Proceedings

PDEA Director Isagani Nerez hailed the operation as a landmark achievement in drug interdiction efforts. He emphasized the scale of the seizure, stating, "The volume of shabu seized represents nearly one metric ton that would have otherwise flooded communities across Metro Manila and beyond." Director Nerez also publicly acknowledged the crucial support provided by Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian and the PNP, highlighting the effective coordination between national government agencies and the local government unit.

Authorities are now preparing to file formal charges against the arrested suspect for serious violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This operation underscores the continued vigilance and collaborative efforts of Philippine law enforcement in targeting the infrastructure of the illegal drug trade.
