Palace Issues Stern Warning Over Fabricated Marcos Medical Document
Malacañang has issued a firm condemnation regarding the circulation of a completely fabricated medical report that has been falsely attributed to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) released an official statement late Wednesday, categorically denouncing the document being shared across various online platforms as both fake and malicious in nature.
Official Statement Declares Document Illegitimate
In its strongly worded declaration, the PCO emphasized that the alleged medical document did not originate from any legitimate examination of the President and therefore does not reflect his actual health status in any capacity. "The document being circulated is FAKE. It did not originate from any legitimate medical examination of the President and does not reflect his current health condition," the official statement read clearly.
The Palace further clarified that President Marcos remains in good health, is fully capable of discharging all his official responsibilities, and continues to actively perform his presidential duties without interruption. The statement served to reassure the public about the Chief Executive's well-being and capacity to govern.
Palace Condemns Irresponsible Information Spread
The Presidential Communications Office characterized the deliberate dissemination of falsified medical information as irresponsible, deceptive, and a clear violation of the President's fundamental right to privacy. The Palace media arm noted that such actions unnecessarily alarm the Filipino public and have the damaging effect of undermining trust in governmental institutions.
Malacañang urgently called upon citizens to exercise caution and discernment, advising them to rely exclusively on official statements released by authorized government sources. The public was strongly urged to refrain from sharing any unverified content, with the Palace noting that legal options are currently being reviewed in connection with the circulation of these fabricated documents.
Medical Institution Confirms Document Falsification
In a separate development, St. Luke's Medical Center issued its own public advisory addressing the situation. The prestigious medical institution confirmed that the medical test results circulating online and across social media platforms, which claim to pertain to President Marcos, are "fake and falsified." The hospital stressed that medical records are released only to patients through authorized hospital channels, maintaining strict confidentiality protocols.
Context of President's Recent Health Situation
This controversy emerges against the backdrop of President Marcos's recent medical observation. Last week, the President spent a night under medical supervision after experiencing discomfort, which was later diagnosed as diverticulitis—an inflammation of small pouches in the colon. President Marcos has publicly addressed this condition, reassuring Filipinos that it is not life-threatening and that he has been feeling progressively better.
While following medical advice to "slow down" his pace, which has resulted in skipping several public events outside Malacañang, the President has maintained his official schedule. He has continued to attend crucial meetings and hold private engagements, including presiding over a recent Economic Development Council meeting and overseeing the oath-taking ceremony of the new Philippine National Police chief.
Malacañang had previously indicated that it would not release a detailed medical bulletin concerning the President, maintaining that such comprehensive disclosures are typically reserved for life-threatening illnesses. The Palace's position emphasizes balancing transparency with the President's right to medical privacy while ensuring the public receives accurate information through proper channels.
