Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda Distributes 71 Patrol Tricycles to Barangay Leaders
In a significant move to bolster local security, Governor Lilia Pineda of Pampanga oversaw the turnover of 71 patrol tricycles to barangay captains from the municipalities of Mexico, Sta. Ana, and San Simon. The ceremony took place on Friday morning at the Mexico Evacuation Center, marking a proactive step in enhancing peace and order across these communities.
Distribution Details and Vehicle Specifications
The patrol tricycles were allocated as follows: 43 units for the barangays of Mexico, 14 for Sta. Ana, and 14 for San Simon. Each vehicle consists of a 155cc motorcycle equipped with back-to-back sidecars, designed for efficient patrolling and monitoring. Notably, these units were manufactured by local Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) fabricators, with support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), highlighting a collaborative effort to boost local economies while addressing security needs.
Enhancing Peace and Order in Pampanga
Governor Pineda emphasized that the patrol tricycles will play a crucial role in strengthening peace and order, particularly in areas where illegal cigarette manufacturing firms have been discovered. With these new vehicles, barangay leaders can conduct more thorough rounds within their jurisdictions, enabling them to promptly report any suspicious or illegal activities. This initiative aims to create a more responsive and vigilant community environment.
Inter-Agency Collaboration and Future Plans
Once reports are filed, an inter-agency task force—comprising the provincial government, Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and other agencies—will take immediate action. Barangay officials expressed their gratitude for this additional support, noting that it enhances their capacity to safeguard their areas. This batch of recipients represents the third group of barangays to receive patrol units, with the program's ultimate goal being to provide tricycles to all barangays across Pampanga. Furthermore, Governor Pineda pledged to supply handheld radios to ensure real-time monitoring and reporting of incidents, further solidifying the province's commitment to public safety.
