PDEA Busts Drug Den in Mabalacat, Arrests Five

In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 3 (PDEA-3) successfully dismantled a makeshift drug den and apprehended five individuals during a targeted buy-bust operation. The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Sunday in Barangay Marcos Village, Mabalacat City, marking a decisive move in the ongoing fight against narcotics in the region.

Suspects and Seized Evidence

The PDEA team has identified the arrested suspects as Gino, a 28-year-old male who allegedly maintained the drug den; Ron, a 27-year-old male; Don Don, a 24-year-old male; Cely, a 41-year-old female; and Rey, a 52-year-old male. During the operation, authorities confiscated seven sachets containing approximately seven grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P47,600.00. Additionally, assorted drug paraphernalia, a cellular phone, and marked money used in the buy-bust were recovered from the scene.

Legal Proceedings and Detention

The five individuals are currently being held in temporary detention at the PDEA-3 jail facility located in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The seized illegal substances will undergo rigorous forensic examination and confirmation at the PDEA-3 laboratory to ensure proper handling and evidence integrity for upcoming legal proceedings.

Collaborative Efforts and Charges

This operation was a coordinated effort involving operatives from PDEA Provincial Offices in Tarlac and Pampanga, along with support from the Mabalacat City Police Station. PDEA Region 3 has announced that appropriate charges will be filed against the suspects under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which imposes severe penalties for drug-related offenses.

The successful bust underscores the agency's commitment to eradicating drug dens and curbing the distribution of dangerous substances in Central Luzon, reinforcing public safety and law enforcement collaboration in the area.
