PDEA, Police Raid Drug Den in Mandaue, Arrest Three

A welder and two other men were apprehended after a coordinated raid by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Mandaue City and Mandaue City Police Office Station 2 targeted an alleged drug den in Sityo Basubas Compound, Barangay Tipolo. The operation occurred at 6:05 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Details of the Arrests

PDEA 7 Director Joel Plaza identified the primary target of the operation as an individual known by the alias Greggy, a 44-year-old welder residing in the area. Greggy is suspected of operating the drug den. Additionally, two other men were arrested inside the den: a 30-year-old unemployed man known as John and a 40-year-old construction worker known as Leo, both also residents of the compound.

Evidence Seized During the Raid

During the raid, operatives confiscated nine packages of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 19 grams. The estimated average market value of the seized drugs is P122,400. Various drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the scene.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

The seized evidence has been forwarded to the PDEA 7 Regional Office Laboratory for chemical analysis to confirm the substances. Meanwhile, the arrested individuals have been detained at the PDEA 7 detention facility in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

According to Leia Alcantara, information officer for PDEA 7, the case against Greggy involved a three-week buildup after authorities received information about his alleged illegal activities. It is reported that Greggy could sell around 20 grams of shabu per week. Notably, John had previously been arrested in 2022 on charges related to illegal drugs.

Charges are being prepared against the suspects for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
