Police Personnel Receive Blessing Ahead of CVIRAA Security Deployment in Naga City
In a solemn send-off ceremony held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, nearly 500 police personnel were blessed with holy water by a priest before their official deployment to Naga City. This ritual aimed to provide spiritual protection as they undertake a critical security mission for the 2026 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet, which runs from March 22 to March 28, 2026.
Comprehensive Security Measures for Regional Sports Event
The police forces have been tasked with safeguarding the week-long sporting event, focusing on sports venues and billeting areas for contingents. Their primary objective is to ensure the safety of athletes, coaches, and other delegates throughout the competition. To enhance security and accessibility, police assistance desks (PADS) will be established in strategic locations, allowing delegates to report any issues or seek help promptly.
The security contingents comprise personnel from multiple agencies, including the Police Regional Office 7, Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices. This multi-agency approach underscores the commitment to a coordinated and robust security framework for the event.
Commitment to Peace and Safety from Police Leadership
Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the chief of police for Central Visayas, has reaffirmed the dedication to providing stringent security for all participants. "We are once again committed to making sure that this event will be peaceful and secure. Our security forces are in place not only to protect the venues but also to ensure that the athletes and contingents are safe in their billeting areas throughout the duration of the CVIRAA Meet," stated Maranan.
This year's CVIRAA carries the theme "United in Sports," and it will be participated in by 12 school divisions, as eight divisions have been transferred to the newly established Negros Island Region. The PRO-7 has also encouraged the public to cooperate with law enforcement and support the CVIRAA Meet to ensure a smooth and safe sporting event across Region 7.
