Rescue Ops Continue in Angeles City Building Collapse

Rescue operations continue for individuals who may still be trapped in the collapsed structure. The tragedy occurred in the early morning of Sunday, May 24, 2026, where at least 24 people were rescued from a nine-story building under construction located on Teodoro Street in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City.

The cause of the collapse and the number of victims are still under investigation.

Senator Calls for Investigation

Senator Joel Villanueva on Monday, May 25, 2026, urged the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to conduct an investigation into occupational safety and health standards (OSHS) to determine if there were violations by the building contractor. The official emphasized that DOLE must confirm whether the contractor and building owner complied with recommendations after a violation was discovered during an inspection in September last year, which led to a work stoppage at the site. Notably, no further inspection was conducted this year.
