Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa broke his silence on social media on Wednesday, May 27, to greet the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid'l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, despite ongoing efforts by authorities to locate him.
In his social media post, the senator stated: 'We join our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).' He added, 'Despite the persecutions we face on every possible front, we hold fast to our faith: no sacrifice will be in vain. God sees us. God is with us.'
This comes amid a heated Senate debate over a proposal allowing senators to participate remotely via teleconference or videoconference, which some lawmakers linked to Dela Rosa's situation. Several minority bloc members walked out of the plenary session, questioning what they saw as a hasty amendment to Senate rules, particularly regarding remote attendance and voting.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) conducted an operation in a subdivision in Alabang, where Dela Rosa was believed to be staying. Reports indicate that the house in question is owned by the uncle of Senator Robin Padilla.
Despite the operations and ongoing issues, Senator Dela Rosa remains tight-lipped about his whereabouts and the allegations he faces.
