Father and Son Allegedly Attack Neighbors in Tabuelan Shooting, Leaving One Dead and Three Injured
A tragic and violent incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Sityo Magsaysay, Barangay Tabunok, Tabuelan, Cebu. According to the Tabuelan Municipal Police Station, a shooting spree resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to three other individuals, including one of the alleged perpetrators.

The authorities have identified the deceased as Elena Caritero Cuerpo, 48 years old. The injured parties include Floramae Cualipano, Glendel Caritero Cuerpo, 30, and the primary suspect, Bienvenido Balais Macaraeg, 47, who works as a security guard. The police investigation reveals that the incident began when Bienvenido and his son, Christian Clifford Cuerpo Macaraeg, 23, allegedly initiated an attack on the residence of a live-in couple, Glendon Debalucos Capitero, 28, and Floramae Cualipano.
Escalation of Violence
Reports indicate that the suspect, Bienvenido, was reportedly shouting Floramae's name before retrieving a firearm and firing at Glendon. Fortunately, Glendon managed to evade the bullet, but it struck Floramae in the body, causing her injury. Not satisfied, the suspect then pursued siblings Elena and Glendel Cuerpo, shooting both of them. Elena was hit in the body, leading to her immediate and tragic death at the scene.
Upon witnessing his partner Floramae injured, Glendon courageously chased after Bienvenido. A physical struggle ensued between the two men, during which Glendon successfully disarmed Bienvenido. In a turn of events, Glendon then fired the weapon at Bienvenido three times, injuring the suspect.
