Two Suspected Thieves Injured After Roof Collapse During Cebu City Robbery Attempt
Two young men found themselves in a stroke of bad luck after they fell from a roof and were caught in the act while attempting to steal electrical wire from a residence in Cebu City. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, March 10, 2026, at a home located on J. Seno Street in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
Suspects Identified by Mabolo Police Station
The Mabolo Police Station has identified the suspects as Joshua Libores Cupta, a 23-year-old resident of Sityo Kalinao in Mabolo, and Daryl Flores Vidal, a 29-year-old from Cabantan Street in Barangay Luz. According to the investigation, the two individuals infiltrated a compound in the area with the intent to steal approximately 17 meters of electrical wire, valued at around P17,000.
Dramatic Turn of Events Leads to Arrest
However, their plan took a dramatic turn when the homeowner noticed their presence. In a frantic attempt to hide, the suspects quickly climbed onto the roof of the property. Due to the combined weight of the two men, the roof suddenly collapsed, causing them to plummet to the ground below.
Instead of managing to escape, the suspects were swiftly apprehended by the homeowner. They were then handed over to barangay tanod (village watchmen) in Mabolo before being transported to the police station for further processing.

The two men are now facing theft charges, which are set to be filed in court. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in criminal activities and the swift justice that can follow such attempts.
