Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has accused Senator Alan Peter Cayetano of being a 'skilled gaslighter,' issuing a warning about potential moves by the former Senate president to disrupt the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Trillanes warns of manipulation tactics
In a statement, Trillanes said Cayetano would try to gaslight everyone as long as he can, emphasizing that the former Senate leader is highly creative in his manipulative ways. 'Do not underestimate him because he is very creative in his manipulation. He never runs out of ways to get attention or cause complications in the process,' Trillanes said.
Trillanes also suggested that Cayetano might employ various strategies to protect his own interests amid the ongoing impeachment case. The remarks come as the House of Representatives prepares to transmit the impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte to the Senate.
No response yet from Cayetano
As of this writing, Senator Cayetano has not issued a response to the latest accusations from Trillanes. The former Senate president has previously denied any involvement in efforts to derail the impeachment proceedings.
The impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte, filed by several lawmakers, alleges betrayal of public trust and other offenses. The Senate is expected to begin the trial once the complaint is formally transmitted.
