The Independent Commission for Infrastructure's Project Investigation Task Force (ICI-PITF) has officially resumed its comprehensive probe into alleged irregularities within the country's flood control infrastructure projects. The ad hoc body confirmed it held its fifth official meeting on Friday, January 30, 2026, marking a significant step forward in this ongoing investigation.
Focus on 79 Projects Involving Top Contractors
Presided over by ICI Chair retired Justice Andres Reyes Jr., the meeting centered on discussing critical updates regarding the task force's investigation into 79 specific flood control projects. These projects are part of a larger portfolio of more than 400 flood control initiatives that have come under scrutiny. Notably, these 79 projects involve the top 15 contractors that were publicly identified by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his State of the Nation Address in the previous year, highlighting the national significance of this probe.
Task Force Composition and Regular Meetings
The Project Investigation Task Force operates as a collaborative body with representatives from key law enforcement and infrastructure agencies. Its membership includes officials from the:
- Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG)
- National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
These representatives work in close coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to ensure a thorough examination of all relevant data. The task force convenes on a biweekly basis to systematically consolidate information, identify pivotal issues, and determine subsequent investigative steps.

The investigation encompasses flood control projects that have been implemented since 2015, covering nearly a decade of infrastructure development. According to recent updates, the task force has already achieved significant progress in its efforts. This progress includes the filing of formal referrals against multiple individuals allegedly involved in the irregularities. Among those facing referrals are several government officials, indicating the probe's reach into potential misconduct within public institutions.
