House trial spokesperson and Kabataan Party-list Rep. Atty. Renee Co has called on Vice President Sara Duterte to appear on the first day of her impeachment trial, scheduled for July 6, 2026. Co expressed hope that the Vice President would not “ghost” or avoid the proceedings.
Co Emphasizes Accountability and Public Closure
Co stressed the importance of completing the impeachment process as part of accountability to the public and to provide answers to the Filipino people. He also urged the senator-judges to fulfill their duties with fairness and dedication for the sake of the nation.
“Our one wish is that VP Sara doesn’t ghost the Filipino people on Day 1 of the trial,” Co said in a statement.
Trial Set to Begin Amidst Political Tensions
The call comes as the impeachment trial of the Vice President is set to begin tomorrow, July 6, 2026. The House of Representatives has prepared its case, and the Senate will act as the impeachment court.
Co’s remarks highlight the significance of the trial in upholding democratic processes and ensuring transparency in government.
