Balamban Hospital Upgrade: New Anesthesia Machine Donated, Facilities Inspected
Balamban Hospital Gets New Equipment, Facilities Inspected

In a significant push to enhance healthcare services in western Cebu, a key provincial health official conducted a thorough inspection of hospital facilities in Balamban. The visit aimed to fast-track infrastructure improvements and ensure operational readiness.

Infrastructure and Operations Under Review

Dr. Nikki Catalan, the Provincial Health Consultant, personally led the assessment at Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Balamban on December 15, 2025. The Capitol announced that the primary goal was to verify the condition and preparedness of the hospital's structural areas and repair facilities. Dr. Catalan's evaluation extended beyond the physical infrastructure to include a review of staffing and the operational equipment necessary for daily hospital functions.

Major Boost for Surgical Capabilities

A highlight of the visit was the formal turnover of a brand-new anesthesia machine. The vital medical equipment was a generous donation from Syntech Properties and the WOH Hup Trust. Dr. Olivia Dandan, Chief of Hospital at CPH-Balamban, personally accepted the donation on behalf of the facility.

Hospital authorities emphasized that this new machine is a game-changer. It is expected to provide substantial aid in performing major operations, thereby improving patient outcomes and expanding the range of surgical services the hospital can safely offer locally.

Expanding the Reach of Healthcare Oversight

Dr. Catalan's inspection tour was not limited to Balamban. In a concurrent effort to ensure quality healthcare across the province, she also visited the hospital in the City of Tuburan. There, her focus included checking on the condition and care of patients in the area, underscoring a holistic approach to health service evaluation that covers both infrastructure and direct patient welfare.

This series of inspections and the new equipment donation mark a proactive step by the provincial government and private partners to strengthen medical infrastructure. The initiatives directly address the growing needs of communities in Balamban, Tuburan, and surrounding areas, aiming to bring more advanced and reliable healthcare services closer to residents.
