Cebu City Police Office Director Police Colonel George Ylanan noted that major incidents on the main roads of Cebu City have significantly decreased due to the heavy presence of police officers.
According to Ylanan, most shooting incidents now occur in the interior parts of the barangays. To address this, he has tasked station commanders to conduct foot patrols in these areas, especially in places inaccessible to vehicles.
"It's just a small adjustment. I have talked to them that aside from maintaining peace on the main thoroughfares or major roads, we should also focus on the interior portions. Those areas that vehicles cannot reach, we need to do foot traffic there," he said.
In recent shooting cases in Cebu City, all occurred in interior areas. The latest incident happened in Sitio Miñulida, Barangay Calamba, which is also an interior area accessible only by foot.
Ylanan revealed that the city has a high crime solution efficiency because suspects are quickly apprehended. CCTV cameras have also contributed significantly, as they make it easier to identify perpetrators.
