A driver has surrendered in connection with the latest gas-and-run incident in Quezon City, according to police on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
During a press conference, Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño stated that the driver turned himself in to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2026.
He said that the driver and the gasoline attendant, who paid for the fuel that the driver left without paying, are now facing each other.
Tuaño revealed that based on the driver's defense, he did not notice that he had not paid.
"Based on the statement he (driver) gave last night to the station commander, while he was having his gasoline loaded, he was talking on the phone, and this is supported by the affidavit of the gas attendant that he was arguing on his cellphone. This was confirmed based on the initial investigation. The person he was arguing with was his wife, because she was telling him to go home since they had come from a party," according to Tuaño.
Even though the PHP 1,500 gasoline bill has already been paid, Tuaño said that the gas attendant will still file a case against the driver. The driver will face charges of estafa.
