The Mandaue City government formally turned over a newly constructed administrative building for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mandaue City Female Dorm to Barangay Basak. This initiative aims to enhance facilities and strengthen public service for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and jail personnel.

Turnover Ceremony Details

The turnover ceremony was held on May 20, 2026, and was led by the local government under Mayor Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano, with assistance from the office of Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon and the BJMP. According to officials, the new facility will serve as the central administrative hub for prison operations and coordination of national government directives.

Benefits of the New Building

In addition to centralizing administrative tasks, the building will support daily processes involving PDLs, streamline workflows, and provide personnel with a more comfortable and efficient working environment. During the ceremony, local officials emphasized that the project reflects their unified commitment to improving public service infrastructure.

The local government stated that the building was developed through close coordination with the BJMP and congressional support, highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration. “This project is a product of strong collaboration between the city government, BJMP, and the office of Congresswoman Lolypop Ouano-Dizon. It is intended to provide better working conditions for our personnel and improve the delivery of services,” officials said.
