PAGCOR Enhances Healthcare Access with Patient Transport Vehicle Donations
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has taken a significant step in supporting the nation's healthcare system by turning over patient transport vehicles (PTVs) to five local government units and the Lung Center of the Philippines. This initiative, which occurred on February 4, 2026, is part of the agency's ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at improving access to essential health services, particularly in communities with limited resources.
Beneficiaries of the PTV Donation Program
The new PTV beneficiaries include:
- The City of Imus in Cavite
- The province of Bataan
- The municipality of Libertad in Antique
- The municipalities of Ibaan and San Jose in Batangas
- The Lung Center of the Philippines
PAGCOR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro Tengco emphasized the critical role these vehicles play in medical emergencies. In a news release on February 5, 2026, he stated, "These patient transport vehicles can serve as lifelines especially during medical emergencies when time is critical. This PTV donation program seeks to help build healthier and more resilient communities."
Impact on Healthcare Delivery and Emergency Response
Chief medical social worker Donnabelle Gonzaga-Arcillo of the Lung Center of the Philippines highlighted the practical benefits of the donation. She noted that the PTVs will address transport constraints faced by the institution in its daily operations, including patient pick-ups and deliveries, home visitations, and community activities. Gonzaga-Arcillo expressed, "Sobrang laking tulong nitong PTV lalo na sa mga pasyenteng hinahatid at sinusundo natin, pati na rin sa aming home visitations at community activities."
Each PTV is equipped with essential medical and safety features to ensure safe and efficient patient transport. These include:
- A stretcher for patient mobility
- An oxygen tank for respiratory support
- A wheelchair for accessibility
- A first aid kit for immediate medical care
- A navigation system for efficient routing
PAGCOR's Ongoing Commitment to Healthcare Support
This donation is part of PAGCOR's broader commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure across the Philippines. In 2025, the agency donated a total of 162 patient transport vehicles to local government units, partner agencies, and institutions nationwide. This included 70 units provided to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, further demonstrating PAGCOR's dedication to supporting public health initiatives.
By focusing on communities with limited resources, PAGCOR aims to bridge gaps in healthcare access and improve emergency response capabilities. The donation of these PTVs is expected to have a lasting impact on the beneficiaries, enabling them to provide timely and effective medical services to their constituents.
