President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called for collective action to protect children and prevent violence in schools, following a series of recent tragedies in educational institutions across the country.
President Appeals for Unified Response
In a statement, Marcos urged students, parents, and the community to work together to shield the youth from violence, neglect, and other dangers. He emphasized that schools should be places of learning, dream-building, and development, not places that cause parents to worry about their children's safety.
“The school should be a place of learning, building dreams, and development, not a place that parents fear for the safety of their children,” the President said.
Government Agencies Tasked with Enhanced Measures
Marcos directed the Department of Education, the Philippine National Police, the Department of Health, and local government units to intensify measures to ensure student safety nationwide. This includes stricter security protocols, mental health support, and rapid response mechanisms.
The President also encouraged parents to dedicate time, attention, and understanding to their children, noting that true protection begins at home. He stressed that asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
Call for Community Involvement
Marcos underscored the need for a whole-of-nation approach, urging all sectors to contribute to creating a safe environment for students. The recent incidents have sparked public concern and prompted calls for stronger safety policies in schools.
