Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7), personally inspected security measures at schools in Cebu City on June 25, 2026, following a deadly shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on June 22.
Inspections at Key Schools
Abad first visited Cebu City Science High School in Barangay Labangon before proceeding to Abellana National High School, one of the largest public schools in the city. The inspections aimed to ensure that police officers deployed outside schools remain alert and that security protocols are strengthened to protect students, teachers, and parents.
Directives for Enhanced Security
The regional police chief directed personnel to increase police visibility, conduct regular monitoring, and maintain close coordination with school authorities. PRO 7 assured the public of its commitment to providing a safe and peaceful environment for students.
Mobilization of Additional Forces
Aside from police officers, barangay tanods and other force multipliers have been mobilized to help prevent a repeat of the Tacloban incident, where three students were killed and 20 others were injured, according to a report by AYB.
