Tacloban school resumes classes after shooting incident

Face-to-face classes at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City are set to resume on Monday, July 6, following a shooting incident that left three students dead and several others injured on June 22.

Emotional healing through entertainment

Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez has pledged to invite entertainers to the school as part of emotional healing efforts for students deeply affected by the tragedy. The initiative aims to help students cope with the trauma and restore a sense of normalcy.

Security enhancements underway

According to Dr. Nilo Eder, Information Officer of the Department of Education Tacloban City Division, security measures are being intensified. Perimeter fencing is being installed around the campus, and CCTV cameras are being placed throughout the area. Repainting is also ongoing, particularly in classrooms where the shooting occurred, to help students move past the traumatic event.
