The San Antonio Spurs forced a deciding Game 7 in the NBA Western Conference finals after a dominant 118-91 victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, May 29, 2026 (PH time). The series is now tied 3-3.
Aggressive Defense from the Start
Facing elimination, the Spurs came out aggressively, particularly on defense, from the very beginning. They dominated the Thunder, earning a chance to travel back to Oklahoma City for the decisive Game 7.
Victor Wembanyama led the charge with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Dylan Harper added 18 points, Stephon Castle contributed 17, Devin Vassell scored 12, and Julian Champagnie chipped in 10 points.
Wembanyama's Postgame Statement
"We ain't done nothing yet. When your back's against the wall, it feels like it's the best opportunity," Wembanyama said.
From the start, the Spurs clamped down on defense, especially against back-to-back MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 32 points in the Thunder's Game 5 win but was held to just 15 points in this game.
In a remarkable turn, no Thunder player reached 20 points.
Key Run Seals the Game
The Spurs took full control with a 20-0 run that gave them a commanding 92-64 lead with 1:16 remaining in the third quarter.
With the Spurs leading by 28 points late in the game, both teams rested their starters, clearly saving their energy for the deciding contest.
