The stage is fully prepared for the highly anticipated 2026 Cebu City Charter Day Cup basketball championships, which will commence on the evening of Friday, February 20, 2026. The action will unfold at the Cebu City Sports Institute Gym, located in Barangay Sawang Calero, promising an electrifying start to this five-day sporting spectacle.
Organizational Meeting and New Game Schedule
In a final coordination meeting held on Thursday, February 19, 2025, at the Cebu City Sports Center, organizers, led by Coach Rocky Alcoseba, along with representatives from all participating teams, ironed out the last details. To better accommodate the teams' preparation needs, a revised game schedule has been implemented. The tournament will kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday, with subsequent days starting at 4 p.m. from Saturday, February 21, onwards.
Opening Match and Prize Structure
The opening game will feature a thrilling clash between the 2025 Cebu City Sinulog Cup champion, RKF Iloilo, and the newcomer, KESB Construction. This match sets the tone for a competitive event with significant rewards at stake. The champion team will not only lift the trophy but also take home a grand prize of P200,000. The runner-up will receive P100,000, while the third and fourth placers will be awarded P50,000 and P20,000, respectively.
Eco-Friendly Spectator Policy
In a unique and environmentally conscious move, admission to the tournament is free for the public. However, spectators are required to bring two empty plastic bottles, which will serve as their entry ticket.
