The Terrafirma Dyip has officially activated Geo Chiu, the No. 1 overall pick from last year's Rookie Draft, for the upcoming Commissioner's Cup in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). This move comes after Chiu fulfilled his prior commitments with the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) champion Abra Weavers, which delayed his signing with the Dyip.
Chiu's Transition to the PBA
Geo Chiu, a 24-year-old center, was selected by Terrafirma in the draft but could not immediately join the team due to his obligations with the Abra Weavers in the MPBL. With those duties now complete, Chiu has begun practicing with the Dyip, having missed the season-opening Philippine Cup. His addition is expected to bolster Terrafirma's roster as they prepare for the midseason tournament.
All-Star Game Participation
In addition to his PBA debut, Chiu will take part in the All-Star Game activities scheduled for March 6 to 8 in Candon, Ilocos Sur. He is set to compete in the Obstacle Challenge, a side event specifically designed for big men, showcasing his skills on a national stage.
Upcoming PBA Schedule
The All-Star weekend is slated for March 6-8, followed by the commencement of the Commissioner's Cup on March 11. This timeline allows Chiu to integrate with his new team while also engaging in the league's celebratory events.
