As part of its annual town fiesta celebration, the Municipality of Tuburan, Cebu will hold an exciting exhibition basketball match at the Tuburan Municipal Sports Complex on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Cebu Greats Accepts Invitation
The Cebu Greats, through former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star Dondon Hontiveros, accepted the invitation from former Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante to face the Tuburan 360 Coffee Team, which is composed of several popular basketball players in the country.
Hontiveros confirmed this, personally negotiating with Diamante over the past few weeks. He also revealed the possibility that their point guard Jun Manzo might play again after being absent from the team since his impressive performance in the opening of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season.
Team Performance
The Cebu Greats, carrying a 7-2 record in the MPBL, are fresh from their fifth straight victory on Monday, May 25, after burying the Manila Batang Quiapo, 128-93. Despite being formed late, the team continues to show strong chemistry and good form in the early part of the competition, which includes 28 teams.
Aside from the father-son tandem of Dondon and Ice Hontiveros, the Cebu Greats lineup also includes Paul Desiderio, Brian Heruela, Kent Ariar, Andrei Arminion, Ron Dennison, Brylle Ivan Meca, Mark Meneses, Dhon Reverente, Wowie Escasio, Alvin Baetiong, Simon Camacho, and CJ Payawal.
Tuburan 360 Coffee Reinforcements
In response, the Tuburan-based 360 Coffee, owned by Diamante, recruited strong reinforcements capable of countering the offense and strength of the Cebu Greats. Team Tuburan 360, led by coach BJ Murillo, is headed by the PBA's "Muscle Man" Vic Manuel, Jonathan "Titing" Manalili, Neil Tolentino, Reinhard Jumamoy, Froilan Mangubat, Reeve Ugsang, and Ted Saga.
Also committed to play for Team Tuburan 360 are EJ Agbong, Genmar Bragais, Steven Ursal, Jancork Cabahug, Shane Menina, Emman Calo, and the Marcelino Brothers. Murillo is confident that his force can provide the right fight against the Cebu Greats. There is a cash prize for the winner of this match.
