Trae Young Declines $48.97M Option, Set for Free Agency

Washington Wizards star Trae Young plans to decline his $48.97 million player option for the 2026-27 season, making him an unrestricted free agent in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Wizards Hope to Retain Young

It is believed that the Wizards could still re-sign Young, but there is no certainty as several teams have expressed interest in acquiring the quality point guard when free agency opens next week.

Trade to Wizards

Young was traded to the Wizards from the Atlanta Hawks in January. However, he only played five games for his new team due to an ankle injury.
