The Minnesota Timberwolves have questioned the historic triple-double recorded by San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Wembanyama became only the third player in NBA history to achieve a triple-double that includes blocks.
The record was set during the Spurs' loss to the Timberwolves in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 (Philippine time). Wembanyama posted 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 blocks in the game.
However, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch argued that four of Wembanyama's blocks should have been called goaltending. The dispute adds a layer of controversy to an otherwise remarkable individual performance.
Despite the milestone, the Spurs fell to the Timberwolves in the series opener, setting the stage for a competitive matchup. The NBA has yet to comment on Finch's claims.
