The Philadelphia 76ers have decided to retain head coach Nick Nurse following their early exit from the 2025-26 National Basketball Association (NBA) Playoffs, according to team sources.
Mixed Results in the Playoffs
Under Nurse's guidance, the 76ers managed to survive the first round, defeating the Boston Celtics in a decisive Game 7. However, their postseason run came to a crashing halt in the second round, where they were swept by the New York Knicks in four straight games.
Front Office Shake-Up
Despite the disappointing finish, the organization chose not to blame Nurse for the outcome. Instead, the 76ers decided to part ways with team president Daryl Morey, who was relieved of his duties effective immediately.
The decision signals a shift in the franchise's direction, as they look to build a more competitive roster around their core players. Nurse will now work closely with a new front office to retool the team for the next season.
