The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has officially announced the final 12-man roster of Gilas Pilipinas for the upcoming third window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, scheduled for early July 2026.
Composition of the Team
The lineup includes four players from the recently crowned Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Commissioner's Cup champions, Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings. These are RJ Abarrientos, Scottie Thompson, Troy Rosario, and import Justin Brownlee, who will suit up as a naturalized player for the national team.
Other members of the Gilas squad are AJ Edu, June Mar Fajardo, Chris Newsome, Kevin Quiambao, Dwight Ramos, and Carl Tamayo.
Also included in the roster are UAAP Season 88 Finals MVP Mike Phillips, who will play as a local player, and Converge FiberXers star Justine Baltazar.
Addressing the Frontcourt Gap
Gilas hopes that the presence of Phillips and Baltazar will fill the significant gap in their frontcourt, as big men Kai Sotto and Quentin Millora-Brown are unable to play due to injuries or other commitments.
Upcoming Matches
In the third window, Gilas Pilipinas will face New Zealand on July 3, followed by a match against host Australia on July 6.
