Meralco Bolts Secure Jordon Varnado for Governor's Cup
The Meralco Bolts have found a new source of strength for the upcoming Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governor's Cup, which kicks off on July 10, 2026. The team has tapped Jordon Varnado as their import for the conference.
Despite being a PBA rookie at 29 years old, Varnado is already familiar with the Bolts' system. He previously served as the team's import in the Basketball Champions League Asia, where he helped lead the franchise to the quarterfinals.
International Experience
Varnado brings a wealth of international basketball experience. Beyond his college career at Troy University, he has played professionally in Hungary, Poland, Italy, Greece, and Israel. This global exposure is expected to benefit the Bolts in the highly competitive Governor's Cup.
Varnado faces a significant responsibility, especially following the Bolts' semifinal finish in the previous Commissioner's Cup under the leadership of imports Marvin Jones and Patrick Gardner.
Other Teams Announce Imports
Three teams have already announced their new imports for the conference. Alongside the Bolts, the Terrafirma Dyip and guest team Macau Giant Pandas have also revealed their choices.
The 29-year-old Justin Strings will lead the Terrafirma Dyip after playing in Canada, Germany, Argentina, and Uruguay. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old De'Vondre Perry will head the Giant Pandas following solid stints in Belgium, the Dominican Republic, and Germany.
