A 29-year-old man was arrested after being caught stealing two pickleball paddles from a store in Cebu Business Park, Barangay Luz, Cebu City on the afternoon of Monday, May 25, 2026.
Suspect Identified
The Mabolo Police Station identified the suspect as alias Vic, a resident of Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City.
How the Theft Happened
According to the investigation, alias Vic entered a sports store inside the mall and pretended to browse for equipment related to the trending sport of pickleball. When he noticed that no sales attendant was watching him, the suspect quickly grabbed two paddles, placed them inside his backpack, and walked out of the store without paying.
However, a security guard observed the suspect's suspicious movements. When asked for a receipt, it was confirmed that the suspect had not passed through the cashier.
Recovery and Arrest
Two pickleball paddles worth P5,180 were recovered from the suspect's backpack. The suspect was turned over to the Mabolo Police Station for further investigation and booking.
