The Brgy. Ginebra Gin Kings have ended a three-year championship drought in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
On Wednesday evening, June 17, 2026, at the Mall of Asia Arena, they dethroned the defending champion TNT Tropang 5G with an 88-76 victory in the deciding Game 7 of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup Finals, witnessed by 24,617 fans.
Scottie Thompson was named Finals MVP after contributing 19 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals, despite playing with a large tear under his left eye and a left hamstring injury.
"This is one of the best. I will cherish this for life, especially in front of my kids," said Thompson, who secured his eighth championship and third Finals MVP award with the Gin Kings.
Best Import awardee Justin Brownlee continued his stellar play, leading the victory with 30 points and 14 rebounds, while RJ Abarrientos and Troy Rosario added 13 points each.
Trailing 40-49, the Gin Kings unleashed their famous "never say die" attitude to completely turn the game around.
The door to the championship swung wide open for the Gin Kings when they posted an 86-76 lead in the final stretch.
