In a significant move to honor athletic excellence, Cebu City is set to distribute a total of P1,145,000 in cash incentives to its medal-winning athletes. This reward follows their dominant performance at the recently concluded 2026 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa) competition.
Incentive Breakdown and Official Announcement
Mayor Nestor Archival of Cebu City had previously announced the incentive structure, which is now being implemented based on the official medal tally. According to the plan:
- Gold medalists will receive P5,000 each.
- Silver medalists are awarded P3,000 per athlete.
- Bronze medalists will get P1,000 each.
These funds are allocated from the local government's budget, underscoring the city's commitment to supporting sports development and recognizing the hard work of its athletes.
Cebu City's Overwhelming Victory at Cviraa 2026

- 146 gold medals
- 105 silver medals
- 100 bronze medals
This performance allowed Cebu City to dominate the competition, leaving other regions far behind. Notably, Bohol Province followed with 84 gold medals, and Cebu Province managed 49 medals, highlighting the significant gap in achievements.
