The Philippine delegation concluded its campaign at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand with a sixth-place finish overall. The closing ceremony was held on the evening of Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Medal Tally and Final Standings
After two weeks of intense regional competition, Team Pilipinas secured a total of 277 medals. The haul consisted of 50 gold, 73 silver, and 153 bronze medals. This performance placed the country in the sixth spot on the final leaderboard.
As widely anticipated, the host nation Thailand dominated the games, amassing a staggering 233 gold medals, along with 154 silver and 112 bronze medals. Indonesia secured second place with 91 golds, followed by Vietnam in third with 87. Malaysia took fourth place with 57 gold medals, and Singapore edged out the Philippines for fifth place with 52 gold medals.
Largest Delegation Falls Short of Target
Despite sending its largest-ever delegation of 1,600 athletes, coaches, and officials to the biennial meet, the Philippines fell short of its pre-Games target. Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino had set a goal of 60 gold medals for the national team.
The sixth-place finish marks a slight decline from the country's performance in the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, where it won 58 gold medals and finished in fifth place.
Regional Participation and Final Notes
Ten nations participated in this edition of the SEA Games after Cambodia's withdrawal. The competing countries were Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, and Timor-Leste.
The games served as another crucial platform for athletes from the region, with the Philippines looking to regroup and aim for a stronger showing in the next edition.
