Andrei Caracut of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters has been unanimously selected as the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Press Corps' Player of the Week for the period of May 13-16, 2026.
Outstanding Performance in Quarterfinals
Caracut earned the recognition after delivering an impressive performance, scoring 29 points including six three-pointers, leading the Elasto Painters to a 113-104 victory over the powerhouse San Miguel Beermen on May 15, 2026. The game was part of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup quarter-finals held at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
With this win, Rain or Shine advanced to the best-of-seven semi-finals where they will face Brgy. Ginebra Gin Kings.
Caracut's Inspiration
"I am inspired because, of course, my teammates are working hard. I see how they work. It inspires me to win the game," said Caracut, as quoted on www.pba.ph.
Competition for the Weekly Award
Caracut edged out other contenders for the weekly award, including RR Pogoy and Calvin Oftana of the TNT Tropang 5G. Both players contributed significantly to TNT's elimination of the top-seeded and twice-to-beat NLEX Road Warriors in the quarter-finals.
TNT also secured a spot in the semi-finals, where they will face the Meralco Bolts.
