NYC Victory Parade for Knicks' First NBA Title in 53 Years

New York City is set to celebrate its first NBA championship in over five decades with a victory parade on Friday, June 19, 2026 (Philippine time). The New York Knicks will be honored for defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the 2025-26 NBA Finals, winning the series 4-1 on Sunday, June 14 (Philippine time).

The parade will culminate at City Hall, where the entire Knicks team will be presented with the Keys to the City, one of the highest honors the city can bestow. Thousands of New Yorkers are expected to line the streets for the celebration.

This marks the Knicks' third NBA title and their first in 53 years. To ensure safety, approximately 10,000 police personnel will be deployed. Participants without tickets will undergo strict security screening. The city has prepared 2,500 pounds (1.1 tonnes) of recycled confetti to shower during the program outside City Hall.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani will personally present the Keys to the City to the victorious Knicks team after the parade. "From packed watch parties in our parks to joyous celebrations that spilled out onto our streets, this championship belongs to New York City," Mamdani said. "The Knicks brought together New Yorkers from every borough and every walk of life. That's why we're making these tickets free and accessible -- so working-class people have a chance to be part of this historic moment and celebrate the team that brought a championship home."

Knicks owner James Dolan revealed that fans gathered outside City Hall will witness an all-star show. "We have everybody from Walt Clyde Frazier from the old team to the new team, the Knicks City Dancers, there's like five marching bands," Dolan said. He added that Grammy winner Alicia Keys will perform "Empire State of Mind" – a hit she recorded with Jay-Z in 2009.
