Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has been named to the 2026 Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list in the entertainment and sports category.
Forbes Recognizes Eala's Career Achievements
Forbes highlighted Eala's career rise over the past year, particularly her career-high ranking of No. 29 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings on March 16, 2026. The publication also noted her victories against top-rated players worldwide.
Among Eala's major wins were her historic campaign at the Miami Open last year, where she defeated Grand Slam champions.
Eala Thanks Supporters
In an email to Forbes, Eala expressed gratitude for the support of her fellow Filipinos, which she said has been instrumental in her success.
“Tennis can sometimes feel quiet and serious, so having that energy makes it special,” Eala said.
Withdrawal from French Open Doubles
Meanwhile, Eala will not proceed to play doubles with Canadian Victoria Mboko at the ongoing French Open in Paris, France.
No clear details were given regarding the reason for their withdrawal from the doubles event. However, it is believed that Mboko preferred to rest adequately for her second-round singles campaign. During her first-round win, Mboko was seen wearing tape on her right shoulder.
For her part, Eala, currently ranked world No. 37, also played singles but was defeated in the first round by world No. 17 American Iva Jovic, 6-4, 6-2.
