UC Webmasters Retain Cesafi Men's Volleyball Championship in Nail-Biting Five-Set Final
The defending champion University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters successfully defended their title in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 25 men’s volleyball tournament, overcoming the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers in a thrilling five-set match. The finals took place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the USPF gym in Lahug, Cebu City, with the Webmasters securing a hard-fought victory of 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 20-25, 22-20.
Strong Start and Mid-Match Shift
Under the guidance of coach John Abas, the UC Webmasters appeared poised for an early finish as they dominated the first two sets, largely thanks to the leadership of Quiades Labos. However, the USPF Panthers dramatically altered the tempo of the game by rallying to win the next two sets, forcing a decisive fifth set that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
Decisive Final Set and Individual Honors
In the deciding set, the Webmasters navigated a tense and narrow path to victory, ultimately overpowering the Panthers in a close finish. Quiades Labos was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, while his teammate Kianne Bernadez earned the Rookie of the Year award. Other notable individual awards included:
- Jayra Licayan (UV) – Best Libero
- Charles Kenyon Emboy (USPF) – Best Setter
- Jasper Judilla (USPF) – Best Opposite Hitter
- Christian Carampatana (UC) and Kirby Villabito (USPF) – Best Middle Blockers
- Ryan Enojo (USJ-R) and Jose Illustrisimo (UC) – Best Outside Hitters
