Cebu's next generation of football talent announced its arrival on the national stage with a spectacular showing at the recently concluded Asia 7's Club Championships. The youth tournament, held from November 27 to 30, 2025, at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig City, Metro Manila, saw teams from the Queen City of the South secure top honors across multiple age groups.
Youth Teams Claim Championship Glory
The young booters from Cebu were simply unstoppable. Cebu Colossal FC emerged as the undisputed champion in the competitive Under-15 category. Not to be outdone, Cebu United FC ruled the Under-13 class, showcasing the depth of skill developing in the region. Cebu United's prowess was further highlighted by securing a silver medal in the U15 division, proving their program's strength across age levels.
The success story extended beyond the champions. Tabor Hill College FC finished as first runner-up in the U13 group, while Makati FC Cebu earned the same distinction in the U11 class. The strong contingent from Cebu also saw Paref Springdale Titans FC advance to the U15 semifinals and Bato Spartans FC reach the U11 semis, though both teams narrowly missed a finals berth.
Men's Teams Showcase Experience and Potential
In the Men's Championships, the experienced JR Impas-Cebu FC secured seventh place in a field of twelve elite clubs. The team, under the guidance of mentor Shane Larry Sarmiento, featured former professional players like ex-U23 Philippine team defender Reymart Cubon and veteran goalkeeper Leonard Tan. They were bolstered by collegiate standouts including Stephen Soria from Far Eastern University and John Clyde Vitualia from De La Salle–College of St. Benilde.
Meanwhile, the San Roque Football Club (SRFC), notable as the youngest squad in the men's competition, wrapped up a respectable campaign in ninth place. The championship title in the men's category was ultimately claimed by Guam Rovers.
A Tournament of Regional Talent
The Asia 7's Club Championships served as a melting pot for football talent from across Asia. The event featured a diverse array of clubs, including international participants like Kampung Buangkok Futsal Club of Singapore, Baller Tokyo and Columbus from Japan, and Generasi Selangor FC of Malaysia. Local Philippine clubs such as Alabang South Supers and BGC Soldiers also competed, making for a highly competitive international showcase.
The outstanding results from Cebu's teams, from the youth champions to the battling men's sides, send a clear message about the province's flourishing football ecosystem. This performance at a major regional tournament underscores Cebu's role as a vital hub for developing the future stars of Philippine football.
