Mabalacat Mayor Geld Aquino on Monday led the distribution of 70 units of knapsack sprayers to farmers in the city. The mayor stated that this initiative is part of the city government's program to support the agricultural sector and enhance farming efficiency.
Boosting Agricultural Productivity
The knapsack sprayers are expected to help farmers apply pesticides and fertilizers to their crops more quickly and effectively. This equipment will enable better crop management and potentially increase yield for local farmers.
Ongoing Agricultural Programs
The City Agriculture Office has implemented various agricultural programs, including the construction of five solar-powered irrigation systems in partnership with Acciona. These systems are located in barangays Sapang Biabas, Atlu Bola, Mawaque, Duquit, and Dapdap. Each unit is expected to provide irrigation for approximately three to five hectares of farmland.
In addition, the distribution of 1,060 bags of certified rice seeds and various foliar fertilizers for registered farmers continues as part of the city's efforts to increase crop yield, according to the local government.
Financial Assistance and Future Payouts
The payout for the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolks is scheduled on May 26, 2025, with some 360 beneficiaries expected to receive assistance. Mayor Aquino also mentioned that the distribution of organic fertilizers and financial assistance to registered farmers is ongoing.
