Cebu City Turns Over P20M Road, Drainage Projects

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival led the ceremonial turnover of nearly PHP 20 million worth of road concreting and drainage projects to four barangays on Friday, May 29, 2026. The initiative is part of the city administration's ongoing infrastructure improvement program.

Completed Projects

The ceremony covered several completed road concreting and pavement projects in Barangays Sambag I, Capitol Site, and Lorega San Miguel. Specifically, the projects included:

  • Road Concreting with Drainage System and Construction of Curb in Sitio Pailob, Barangay Sambag I
  • Construction of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement in Sitio Alcantara, Barangay Sambag I
  • Road concreting in Sitio Jasmin, Barangay Capitol Site
  • Road concreting in Sitio Acacia, Barangay Lorega San Miguel

Project Costs

According to the city government, the project in Sitio Alcantara amounted to PHP 7.4 million, while the Sitio Pailob project cost PHP 3.2 million. The road concreting in Sitio Acacia also had a budget of PHP 3.2 million, and the Jasmin Street project reached PHP 6.2 million.

Attendance and Remarks

The turnover ceremony was attended by officials from the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), along with barangay officials including Barangay Sambag I Captain Maria Ailien Guardo, Barangay Capitol Site Captain Kelly Quijada, and Barangay Lorega San Miguel Captain Nilo Dela Cerna, together with their respective council members.

In his message, Mayor Archival thanked the barangay officials and residents for their cooperation and urged communities to support the city’s environmental and waste management programs. He emphasized the importance of waste segregation and collaboration to improve city services.

Mayor’s Chief of Staff Kenneth Siasar also reminded residents to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the newly completed projects. He stressed that residents should refrain from throwing garbage along roadsides and avoid illegal parking to help preserve the projects for the benefit of the community.

Official Turnover

Following the ceremonial turnover and ribbon-cutting rites, city and barangay officials signed the turnover documents, symbolizing the official acceptance of the completed projects by the beneficiary barangays.
