DOLE Aid for Angeles Building Collapse Victims

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will extend financial assistance and benefits to qualified victims and beneficiaries affected by the recent building collapse in Angeles City, Pampanga. Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino announced on Thursday that he has directed the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) to provide Employees’ Compensation (EC) assistance to those impacted.

Cash Assistance and Benefits

Under the EC Program, qualified beneficiaries of deceased workers will receive an immediate cash assistance of PHP15,000. The ECC has also been instructed to facilitate the application for EC funeral benefits worth PHP30,000 through the Social Security System (SSS), in addition to regular SSS benefits. Eligible beneficiaries, including spouses and minor children of the deceased workers, may also qualify for EC death pension benefits.

For injured workers, the program provides PHP10,000 in cash assistance, along with disability benefits as determined by the SSS.

Secretary Tolentino's Visit and Commitment

Tolentino visited the site of the collapse in Angeles, Pampanga on May 27, where he emphasized the need to review DOLE’s visitorial powers. He assured affected workers and their families that DOLE, together with the ECC and partner agencies, remains dedicated to providing immediate assistance and ensuring access to all available benefits and support services following the incident.

The ECC is an attached agency of the DOLE.
