Kitchen Operations and Impact

The facility, located at Pier 4 in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, was inaugurated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 22, 2026. It is the first Walang Gutom Kitchen outside Metro Manila and serves as a one-stop hub where vulnerable individuals and families can access free warm lunches and social welfare services, including the Pag-abot Program and Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program.

From June 22 to July 5, 2026, the kitchen served 3,317 free meals during its first two weeks of operation. The kitchen currently provides free warm lunches and plans to expand operating hours from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a target of serving 200 to 250 meals daily.

Encouragement for Donations

DSWD 7 Director Shalaine Marie Lucero also encouraged individuals and organizations to donate to help sustain the Walang Gutom Kitchen in Cebu, emphasizing the importance of community support in addressing involuntary hunger.
