Global Manufacturers Build Supply Chains and Create Jobs at Anflo Industrial Estate in Davao
In a striking aerial view, the Head Sport facility dominates the foreground of the industrial site, spanning approximately five hectares, while a Thai Coconut processing plant rises under construction at the far right in Davao del Norte. This scene captures the dynamic growth at the Anflo Industrial Estate (AIE), where global manufacturers are finding more than just a strategic location—they are actively building robust supply chains, generating significant employment, and embracing the hub's welcoming motto: "It's Good to be Home."
Strategic Location and Economic Impact
The 63-hectare Philippine Economic Zone Authority-registered agro-industrial hub is strategically positioned between Davao City and Tagum City, merely 300 meters from the Davao International Container Terminal. This prime location places investors in close proximity to agricultural producers and efficient export routes, facilitating seamless operations and market access.
Head Sport's Expansion and Local Partnerships
Vasyl Goshovsky, vice general manager of Head Sport, explained that the company selected AIE to expand its production capabilities while strengthening partnerships with local cooperatives. The firm now collaborates with long-term suppliers and rigorously verifies deliveries upon arrival to ensure top-notch quality. Additionally, Head Sport is gradually transitioning to locally sourced rubber, tapping into the region's agricultural resources.
"We see strong potential in the Philippines," Goshovsky stated, highlighting young rubber plantations, improving infrastructure, and opportunities to build sustainable linkages with farmers. At full capacity, the company expects to employ about 700 workers, with over 400 already hired. This direct employment is complemented by indirect job creation in logistics, transport, and agriculture sectors.
Workers undergo comprehensive in-house training, with a strong emphasis on communication, discipline, and reliability to support round-the-clock operations. Goshovsky added that the company is exploring advanced technologies to reduce chemical use in rubber plantations, enabling farmers to treat only affected trees. This approach cuts costs and enhances sustainability, benefiting both the environment and local communities.
Thai Coconut's Strategic Investment
Meanwhile, Thai Coconut Public Company Limited, operating through Novo Coconut Co. Ltd., has also chosen AIE to expand its coconut processing operations. Assistant factory manager Lawan Poomphruk noted that the Philippines' agricultural strength and Mindanao's role as a major coconut producer made this investment highly strategic.
"Expanding in the Philippines strengthens our raw material sourcing, stabilizes supply, and enhances product quality for global markets," Poomphruk explained. The company is actively working with farmers to improve sustainable production practices, connect supply chains, and develop additive-free coconut products tailored for health-conscious consumers worldwide.
Thai Coconut anticipates employing approximately 300 workers, with more than 50 initial hires focused on canned food manufacturing and stringent quality control processes. Poomphruk also praised AIE's support in streamlining permit approvals and providing essential infrastructure, which has been instrumental in keeping project timelines on track.
Future Prospects and Community Benefits
As these companies localize sourcing and deepen ties with farmers, Anflo Industrial Estate continues to attract investors seeking long-term growth opportunities. The hub's commitment to fostering economic development is turning its promise into tangible reality for workers, local communities, and global firms alike. With over 1,000 jobs expected from these expansions alone, AIE is proving to be a catalyst for regional prosperity and sustainable industrial advancement.
