ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Mindanao Autonomous College Foundation, Incorporated (MACFI) of Lamitan City, Basilan province installed a physician as its second school president on Saturday, June 13, at a hotel in Zamboanga City. Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Jr. was formally installed during an investiture ceremony held alongside the commencement exercises of 239 postgraduate students.
New President Installed
Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Jr., the son of founding president Dr. Rima Hassan, takes over the leadership of the 22-year-old institution. His mother, a doctor of education, now serves as the school’s chief executive officer. The Board of Trustees of MACFI approved Hassan’s appointment through a resolution unanimously passed on March 9, 2026.
According to the Board, Hassan demonstrated exemplary academic achievement, professional competence, and dedication to public service. He holds degrees in Doctor of Medicine and Doctor in Public Administration. The Board stated: “His distinguished educational background, leadership, capability, commitment to institutional development, and deep understanding of the vision and mission of MACFI makes him exceptionally qualified to assume the presidency of the institution.”
Hassan acknowledged the responsibility of leading the school to greater heights. Before his appointment, he served as a consultant to his mother.
Honors and Achievements
During the ceremony, Hassan recognized Nulmijan Timbosol for bringing honor to MACFI as the Top 9 in the March 2026 licensure examination for teachers. Timbosol, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education graduate, achieved a 93 percent rating and received a P100,000 cash incentive from MACFI.
MACFI also conferred an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree to Hadji Ibrahim Hassan Sr. for his exemplary and selfless dedication to community service.
The newly installed president congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their studies in their respective fields. The commencement theme was “Rising with Purpose, Advancing with Excellence.”
MACFI, located at Quezon Boulevard, Lamitan City, Basilan, was founded in 2003.
