Medellin Robotics Team Calls for Stronger Support After World Olympiad Win
Medellin Robotics Team Seeks Stronger Support After Win

The Medellin National Science and Technology School (MNSTS) Robotics Team has renewed calls for stronger institutional support for science, technology, and mathematics development after clinching the top spot at the 25th World Robot Olympiad Philippines 2026, held in Pasay City from June 22 to 25, 2026.

Provincial Investment Fuels Victory

The team credited a P5.9 million investment from the Cebu Provincial Government for new robotics kits, which helped them secure third place in the Master AI Robot Cup High School Category and eighth place in the Global Artificial Intelligence Robot – Senior High School Division.

Just two weeks after the distribution and training on the use of the robotics kits to seven science high schools in the province, the MNSTS Robotics Team demonstrated their skills by outperforming both private and public schools from various parts of the country.

Recognition from DepEd Official

DepEd Cebu Province Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Senen Priscilo P. Paulin, CESO V, acknowledged the achievement, attributing it to the collaborative efforts of the provincial government and the education sector.

“This shows that we are not lagging behind. We are not only focusing on robotics, but we are prioritizing the science high schools in the province,” Paulin said in an exclusive phone interview with SunStar Cebu on June 30, 2026.
