Law enforcement operatives arrested two individuals and confiscated approximately P20.4 million worth of illegal drugs during an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Buy-Bust Operation Details
Bryan Babang, PDEA-Zamboanga spokesperson, stated that the suspects were apprehended in a buy-bust operation around 3 p.m. along the bypass road in Cabatangan village, Zamboanga City. The identities of the arrested individuals were not disclosed, but Babang revealed that one is a resident of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, while the other hails from Guiwan village, Zamboanga City.
Suspects Claim to Be Couriers
According to Babang, the suspects claimed they were merely acting as couriers, following instructions from their uncle to deliver the illegal drugs. They were caught in possession of approximately three kilograms of suspected shabu, packed in three transparent plastic packs, with an estimated street value of P20.4 million.
Also seized from the suspects were bundles of boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 marked bill, along with various illegal drug paraphernalia.
Legal Proceedings
The suspects are currently detained pending the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The anti-drug operation was jointly conducted by PDEA operatives and local police forces.
