President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution of rice in Roxas City, Capiz on Monday, targeting farmers and vulnerable sectors as part of the administration's ongoing program to assist communities amid rising food and oil prices.

Distribution Event in Barangay Milibili

The activity was held at the covered gym of Barangay Milibili, where 500 beneficiaries received 10 kilograms of rice each. Of this number, 300 were farmers from Barangays Bolo, Bato, Bago, and Milibili, while the remaining 200 came from various sectors, including persons with disabilities (PWDs) and solo parents.

President's Directive on Local Government Support Fund

According to the Chief Executive, this initiative aligns with his directive to local government units to fully utilize their Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) and allocate it entirely for rice distribution within their jurisdictions.

The rice distribution program, which began in Manila, is scheduled to be conducted six times this year. Recently, the President announced in Batangas plans to increase the funding for the LGSF, provided that local officials ensure its proper and effective use.

The rice distribution demonstrates the strong partnership between the national and local governments in addressing economic challenges and providing immediate assistance to communities.
