Mandaue City Council approves increased cash aid for senior citizens
Mandaue seniors to get P11,000 cash aid this year

The Mandaue City Council has approved on second and final reading an ordinance increasing the annual financial assistance for senior citizens in the city. Councilor Atty. Carlo Fortuna, chairman of the Committee on Laws and Ordinances, announced that qualified seniors will receive P11,000 this year and P12,000 annually starting next year.

Distribution Schedule Adjusted

Fortuna also confirmed that the second tranche of this year's aid will be released in November instead of December. The first tranche of P5,000 was already distributed in June. "We have already approved the ordinance on second and final reading. For this year, our senior citizens will receive a total of P11,000, and beginning next year, they will receive P12,000 annually. Since the first P5,000 was already released in June, they will receive the remaining P6,000 this November instead of December," Fortuna said.

Regular Biannual Payouts

Under the amended ordinance, the cash aid will be distributed in two regular tranches each year—in June and November. Starting next year, each beneficiary will receive P6,000 per payout. "The ordinance now sets the regular distribution every June and November. We adjusted the schedule so our senior citizens can receive their assistance earlier," Fortuna added.
